Production Update 1 13 Mar, 2018

We want to extend a special thank you to all of our customers that have placed a pre-order for the CrossFire CNC Plasma table! We understand that pre-ordering a product that is not estimated to ship for many months can leave you feeling anxious. That is why we will be providing frequent status updates on how things are going here at Langmuir Systems so that you remain confident in your decision to purchase from us.

Production:

Unlike projects that are on Kickstarter or other crowdfunded websites, the CrossFire was already in the early stages of production weeks before our website began taking orders. In fact, prior to the start of the pre-order campaign, we had our vendors produce 5 complete production machines (using production tooling and processes) so that we could carefully inspect the first articles to make sure that all design requirements were being met. Once the first article parts passed inspection, we gave written approval to each vendor to move forward with the mass production of the parts that were assigned to them.

All of our vendors are contractually required to provide weekly updates to us and let us know if they are tracking to the agreed upon schedule. We are happy to report that, as of today, all of our vendors are either on schedule or ahead of schedule. This means that we are well positioned to begin shipping machines to our batch 1 customers in June as promised.

Assembly Factory:

In order to assemble and ship CrossFire machines efficiently, we have decided to expand our operation into a dedicated assembly factory and begin preparing it for full rate production. On March 19, we will be moving into a 6000 sqft warehouse in Lakeside, CA and will begin outfitting it with all of the tooling, workstations, and quality control inspection points necessary to output CrossFire machines in the required volume. Thankfully, a few of us at Langmuir Systems have designed and implemented assembly lines for large companies so this is where we thrive.

Our current workshop in San Diego, CA will be re-purposed exclusively for R&D and Product Development so that we can continue to develop innovative prototypes that will later become full-fledged products.

Technical Support:

One of our main priorities between now and June is to build a comprehensive library of tutorial videos so that folks can hit the ground running when they receive their machines. The tutorials will be broken into the following categories:

  1. Designing with Autodesk Fusion 360
  2. Programming with Autodesk Fusion 360
  3. Controlling the CrossFire with Mach 3
  4. Operating the CrossFire
  5. CNC Plasma Cutting Tips and Tricks

Our goal with these videos is to educate our customers on CNC plasma cutting to the point of intermediate proficiency. We want all of our customers to rest assured that these educational tools will be available to them before they receive their machines.

As always please contact our support team if you have any questions!
