Vulcan 16 FAQ

How does the Vulcan 16 ship?

Vulcan 16 ships unassembled via FedEx Ground in three separate boxes weighing approximately 125lbs each.

Some units may be shipped via LTL freight depending on factors such as size, weight, packaging requirements, or logistical considerations.

Do I need to purchase fixturing?

If you plan to powder coat small or lightweight parts, you can likely get creative with your own fixture. If you want to get powder coating as quickly and efficiently as possible with part scalability, we recommend purchasing our fixtures.

How is the Vulcan any different than my home appliance oven?

Vulcan 16 is designed for precise thermal control of +/- 5 °F throughout the entire 16 cubic foot cure volume. A home appliance oven typically maintains +/- 20 °F across the normal 5 cubic feet.

Why should I care that the internal walls are stainless steel?

Until now, powder coat ovens have been offered by our competitors using galvanized steel, which is toxic at temperatures required for powder curing. Langmuir Systems prioritizes your safety with stainless steel interiors so you can powder coat without the worry of long-term health risk.

What is CureControl?

CureControl is our in-house software for Vulcan 16. Our software maximizes your efficiency as a hobbyist or small business owner to its fullest potential through the use of custom cure profiles and a built-in Time-To-Temp calculator. Making batch production runs is no problem for Vulcan 16 as it saves your parts and cure times into its memory so that you can add a signature finish at the touch of a button without the hassle of temperature monitoring.

How does Vulcan 16 compare to other available Powder Coat Ovens?

Vulcan 16 is a tier above the competition. Langmuir Systems offers the best materials, insulation, and productivity that money can buy at no additional cost to the user. By design, we have maximized the curing volume to fit up to 28” wheel rims all while maintaining a temperature rise time of 15 minutes or less.

Does Langmuir Systems supply powder coating powders?

No, we do not currently supply powder finishes, but online retailers such as Prismatic Powders and Powder Buy The Pound offer hundreds of color variants.

How is powder coating any better than your standard paint?

Powder coat finishes are much more durable than paint and resist damage much more effectively with fewer coats. Additionally, powder overspray can be recollected and used as opposed to any lost paint with aerosol-based paints.

Can I connect two ovens and double my curing volume?

Vulcan 16 is engineered to the maximum possible size with the electronic components provided because the team at Langmuir understand that sometimes, bigger IS better. While we may offer a larger curing oven in the future, it is not currently in development.

Can I custom order the Vulcan 16 to arrive pre-built?

While we may consider offering this service in the future, Langmuir Systems does not currently support in-house assembly of the Vulcan 16 Powder Coat Oven.

I’m new to Powder Coating and just purchased my Vulcan 16, what’s next?

As with all new tools, we recommend becoming familiar with the machine and processes for getting the results you want. To get started, we have provided a comprehensive suite of videos, assembly guides, and general knowledge to get you up and running located in the support tab at the top of the page.

What type of insulation comes in Vulcan 16?

Vulcan 16 ships standard with two-inch thick, fireproof mineral wool insulation rated for 1200 °F for the best performance.
