Configure a Chassis Builder or Workbench
Start with the 5H or 7H chassis builder layouts for frames and roll cages, or the 5L, 5U, and 6U workbench layouts for brackets and bumpers.
Outsourcing a bumper or a set of skid plates means working on someone else’s schedule. With a CNC cutting machine, a press brake, a fixture table, and a powder coat oven, you control the whole build: design it Monday, cut and bend it Tuesday, weld and coat it by Friday.
Plan your layout with the Interactive Shop Planner.
Most of an off-road build starts as flat steel. These are the parts shops make most, and the machines we’d use for each. Need a head start? Download ready-to-cut tabs and brackets on FireShare.
Usually 3/16" to 1/4" steel. Cut on a CrossFire PRO MAX, bend the wings on Titan 25T, and weld on ArcFlat.
3/16" to 1/4" steel or aluminum. Cut on a CrossFire PRO MAX, then bend the flanges on Titan 25T.
3/16" to 1/4" steel. Cut on CrossFire PRO MAX, then fixture and weld on ArcFlat.
1/8" to 1/4" steel. Cut on CrossFire PRO MAX, or on Apollo 4 for small holes and clean edges. Bend on Titan 25T.
1/4" to 3/8" steel. Cut on a CrossFire PRO MAX, then bore bushing holes on MR-1.
3/8" to 1/2" steel or stainless. Cut on a CrossFire PRO MAX, and face the sealing surface on MR-1.
14 to 11 gauge steel or aluminum. Cut on Apollo 4 or CrossFire PRO MAX, then bend on Titan 25T.
Thin steel or aluminum. Cut fine detail on Apollo 4, then powder coat in Vulcan 16.

Cut brackets, badges, battery trays, and panels with clean edges and small holes that need no cleanup. Apollo 4 packs a 1.5kW fiber laser into a fully enclosed 4' x 4' machine, and its material pass-through lets longer stock extend through the front or back. Special launch price starting at $11,995.
Cut bumpers, skid plates, link mounts, and flanges from sheet up to 1" thick. A true 48" x 48" cutting area fits most bumper blanks in one setup, and the deep water table keeps fumes and spatter down. Starting at $3,395.
Choose CNC plasma for bumpers, skid plates, gussets, and link mounts in plate up to 1" thick. It’s the lowest-cost way to cut heavy steel. Choose a fiber laser for brackets, badges, and panels in thinner sheet, where you want clean edges and small holes with no cleanup. Many auto shops run both.

Machine suspension spacers, bushings, brackets, and billet parts in aluminum and steel. MR-1 removes up to 30 pounds of steel per hour, holds tight tolerances, and starts at $5,195.
Bend chassis tabs, brackets, skid plates, and bumper wings at the same angle every time, so the tenth part of a run matches the first. 25 tons of force, a 33" bend width, and programming on the built-in touchscreen. Starting at $4,995.
Bolt ArcFlat blocks together into a chassis builder, then fixture tube and plate exactly where they belong. Each 2' x 3' cast iron block has 336 fixture holes and machined surfaces. There’s no welding or warping like a tab-and-slot table. Starting at $775 per block.

Powder coat brackets, sliders, skid plates, and small bumper parts in-house with a tough, even finish. The 16 cubic foot oven heats quickly and evenly, and CureControl software holds the temperature. Starting at $1,499.
Yes. Most bumpers use 3/16" to 1/4" steel, which any CrossFire cuts cleanly with a 45A or larger plasma cutter. For 3/8" to 1/2" mounts and flanges, use a CrossFire PRO MAX or XR with a 65A or 85A Hypertherm cutter.
Plasma cuts thick plate for less money and suits bumpers, skid plates and gussets. A fiber laser cuts finer detail, smaller holes and cleaner edges on thinner sheet, so it suits brackets, badges and panels. Many shops start with plasma and add a laser later.
No. CrossFire tables cut flat sheet and plate. Cut tube with a saw or tube notcher, then fixture it on an ArcFlat table to weld.
A 4' x 4' CrossFire PRO MAX handles most bumper and skid plate work. Choose the 4' x 8' CrossFire XR if you buy full sheets or cut parts in batches.
For 3/16" to 1/4" steel, a 45A or 65A cutter covers most parts. Choose the Powermax85 SYNC if you cut 1/2" mounts and flanges every week. The CrossFire PRO MAX and CrossFire XR run cutters up to 85A.
